Karma Feeling’s pretty bracelets: giving good karma and festive sparkle this Christmas
When jewellery brand Karma Feeling dropped us a line and asked us to check out its bespoke crystal gemstone bracelets, we were intrigued – and naturally keen to take a look.
Karma Feeling’s niche is tailor-made bracelets for women and men – which customers can self-design on the website – and they’re certainly stylish, attractive and fun. We love the cute silvery ‘Karma Feeling’ tag and the way that you can, should you wish, create a bracelet to match a particular outfit, in whatever colours you choose.
Stones and their meanings
However, while style and design are obviously our particular thing here at the Fashion & Style Directory, we’ve been quickly learning that there’s seemingly more to gems than just looking attractive – as this article by US holistic therapy expert Benjamin Dean explains.
“Each individual gemstone contains healing properties, carefully selected to suit the needs of the wearer,” Karma Feeling’s owner, Gaynor Lawn, confirms. “Our bracelets are made from a selection of 100% natural crystals, and each stone embodies individual healing energies, Combined, these stones create the ultimate expression of positive energy.
“The jewellery market, and particularly the charm businesses, largely sell jewellery based solely on aesthetic. Karma Feeling believe that you get back from life what you put out and we reflect this in our jewellery.
“Our customers receive a unique and stylish tailor-made product that is made to complement the wearer’s needs. We endeavour to not only make you look good, but to make you feel good too and all for an affordable price.”
Celebrities have been getting in on the act too, Gaynor reveals: “Our bracelets have so far been spotted on the wrists of Serge Pizzorno from Kasabian and Florence Welch, and have appeared on BBC and MTV.”
Building our own bracelet
Invited by Karma Feeling to follow in Florence’s footsteps and have a go at creating our own bracelet – which you can do online at karmafeeling.co.uk, with prices starting from £35 – we have to confess to being influenced as much by the crystals’ lovely colours and patterns as by the meanings behind each gemstone (which are, nevertheless, helpfully explained in detail on the website).
With one eye on our logo and site colour scheme – OK, we just love purple – we chose Amethyst, which is described as “a powerful and protective stone” as our first crystal. It guards, apparently, “against psychic attack and negativity” and “will calm and stimulate the mind, and balance out the highs and the lows of life” – so, handy for helping us navigate our workload.
We should also remember, of course, that the reputed healing properties of gemstones are nothing new – the very name ‘Amethyst’, for instance, comes from the Ancient Greek for “not intoxicated”, with the stone seen as protecting the wearer from drunkenness. So, handy for allowing us to have a glass of wine or three while we write this article…
Next up, we selected a pretty Aquamarine stone, which was apparently carried by sailors as a talisman against drowning (not in wine), but also helps you to “become tolerant of others and stops you from being judgemental”.
We loved the rich, deep purple of our Garnet stone too, which “balances the sex drive and aids sexual potency” (which will teach us for not reading the descriptions properly). Meanwhile, Red Jasper “makes a great worry bead because it helps you to recognise and solve problems before they become too big” and is “good for people in bad relationships” – though the aforementioned Garnet should already be dealing with any issues in that department.
A delightful creamy pink stone, our choice of Rose Quartz will “attract love into your life” and “increase fertility”, in what appears to be a recurring theme.
With all that sex talk, it’s no wonder that we needed to select Howlite for our final crystal, which Karma Feeling describes as “an incredibly calming stone”, which will “help anyone suffering from insomnia, especially if it’s caused by a busy mind!” With the potent combination of Garnet and Rose Quartz, we fear that it might not be our busy mind causing lack of sleep.
Pretty – and with a story
Irreverence aside, we do really like our Karma Feeling bracelet – it’s a pretty piece of jewellery in its own right, and because the combination of crystals is unique to us, it tells a story of sorts. We can see how, when nicely packaged and dispatched in its branded gift box, it would make a very nice Christmas gift.
If you’re in need of extra inspiration, there’s even a ‘prescription service’ – allowing you to choose from a list of feelings and emotions in a dropdown menu – or a ‘Ready to Wear’ section, containing premade designs such as the ‘Creativity bracelet’, specially designed to help those working in the arts.
If you do choose to create your own Karma Feeling bracelet as a gift, just make sure you do what we failed to do and read the meanings first – otherwise, who knows what messages you might unwittingly end up sending!
Later on we’ll be giving you a chance to win the Karma Feeling bracelet that we created (worth £35). Keep an eye on our website, Facebook and Twitter for details!
