Five of the best fashion finds for spring 2017
It’s almost time for the clocks to go back, the sun’s been shining (on and off, anyway) and I’m starting to get a bit too warm in my big coat. The signs can only point to one conclusion – spring will soon be upon us again, and I’m so ready to wave goodbye to the dark nights and chilly mornings.
With that in mind, what better way to celebrate the turning of the season than refreshing your wardrobe with a few key pieces to see you through ’til summer?
Mules, £25.99, Zara
Whilst I’m not usually a fan of kitten heels, I couldn’t resist these sweet pastel-blue mules from Zara. With a statement black velvet bow perfect for any occasion, these cute kittens are surprisingly wearable!
I’d pop them on to go with a pretty pastel a-line skirt, but they’re also smart enough to add a pop of colour to a black work suit. The pointed toe will elongate the leg which makes these a great buy for petites. There’s also a wide selection of sizes available at Zara, ranging from sizes 2-9.
Bardot flippy dress, £28.00, Nobody’s Child
Florals for spring may not be groundbreaking, but this pretty skater dress ticks all the boxes for the season without being saccharine sweet.
Coming from one of my favourite new brands, Nobody’s Child, this piece sees the Bardot updated with a flattering wide v-neck and on-trend ruffled sleeves. Pair with metallic platforms for a party look or dress down with over-the-knee boots. Available in sizes 6-16.
Butterfly print t-shirt, £32.00, Oasis
Bright prints are a big trend for spring 2017, having been spotted on the catwalk at Balenciaga, Chloé and Givenchy. To me, Oasis embodies spring, and their seasonal collection hasn’t disappointed!
With a sweet floral lace trim, this timeless butterfly-print piece will keep you on-trend until June and beyond. Perfect for enjoying the spring sunshine, team with cropped skinny jeans and white pumps for a preppy look. Available in sizes 6-16.
Moto borg jacket, £65.00, Topshop
I’ve never been afraid to play with colour, so this just has to be my go-to jacket for the transition from winter to spring!
This pastel denim cord jacket is both fun and functional with its soft borg collar and oversized fit; perfect to throw on over a knit when you need an extra layer. Or, why not celebrate the 90s trend by channelling your inner Spice Girl – just add platform boots and a daring micro mini! Available in sizes 4-16.
Black mono slouch bag, £35.00, River Island
Bags are my thing, and I’m quite particular about them (despite having a wardrobe full), but this one’s a clear winner for me!
An easy slouch makes a perfect everyday bag and the simple design means this goes with pretty much anything. Stripes are set to be everywhere this spring, and this bag’s asymmetrical stripe composition draws from pieces seen on the catwalk at Mulberry, Elie Saab and 3.1 Philip Lim. Snap one up from River Island for the buy-it-now price of £35.00.
Prices and availability all correct as of 14 March 2017.
