The best winter clothes for working from home

Winter is officially here, and for many of us that would usually mean getting up in the dark and layering up to head out for the commute to work.
But, as with everything else in 2020, this winter is a little different. Now, for some, the mornings aren’t quite so miserable and there’s no need to step foot outside into the bitter chill.
But working from home might prove to be pretty damaging when the next heating bill drops through the letterbox. On the plus side, it’s a great excuse to refresh that winter wardrobe and invest in some comfy, cosy and toasty clothes to make sure we can keep the heating to a minimum now we’re all indoors a lot more.
Festive jumper
The office Christmas party might be postponed until 2021, but that’s no excuse not to get into the festive spirit with your colleagues. With celebrations likely to be Zoom-based for this year, a Christmas jumper is still a must. We all love it really!
This men’s penguin-themed winter warmer from FatFace is a less garish option than some you’ll find, so makes an ideal choice for joining in with the festivities, while doubling up as something you can actually wear out to the shops as well.
Penguing from home
Sticking firmly to the penguin theme, these Cosy Bed Socks in a Box from Next are a great addition to any underwear drawer.
Slip them on as you power up the laptop and wait for your coffee to brew, and you’ll be all set for the day. Plus, at £6, they make a great stocking filler too.
Fluffy mood boosters
If you’re looking for a super-cute, super-warm pair of slippers, head to White Stuff.
These Faux Fur Slipper Booties are ideal for working from home throughout the chilly winter months, and, at £28, would make a perfect early Christmas gift to yourself.
However, we take no responsibility if the softness of these slippers puts you in more of a mood for snuggling up on the sofa than for a day of work!
Comfy trousers
Let’s not kid ourselves, everyone needs a go-to pair of comfy trousers. And this pair of men’s Under Armour Rival Fleece Joggers really hit the spot.
At £42 from John Lewis, they’re not the cheapest on the market but you’re guaranteed plenty of wear out of them – so much so you might actually need two pairs for when one is in the wash!
They also come in navy (or ‘Academy’) and black options, so you can even get away with them on important Zoom meetings. Perfect!
Supersoft style
For something a little more professional – but still warm and cosy – this Weston Soft Longline roll-neck top from FatFace fits the bill.
The oatmeal colour is great to pair with jeans or more ‘worky’ trousers, so even if you have to nip into the office, you won’t look like a complete working from home convert. At £35, it’s also a very reasonable price.
Keep your toes cosy
For the ultimate working from home treat, be sure to add the Snailax 2-in-1 Shiatsu Foot and Back Massager to your Christmas list. This is an absolute dream for those wanting to keep their toes warm and cosy, while enjoying the added bonus of a foot rub while working on that stressful report, or dealing with the fifth Zoom meeting of the day.
And, the best bit, none of your fellow Zoom meeting attendees will be any the wiser! At £57.99 on Amazon, the massager makes for a great Christmas gift and the foot massager top even detaches to transform into a back massager. It’s a no-brainer!
