Are you going to Hexham Vintage Fair on 29 March?
The second Hexham Vintage Fair is taking place this Saturday (29 March 2014), dedicated to true vintage fashion, homewares and kitchenalia from the 1900s to the 1980s.
Visitors to the event – hosted in the Northumberland market town’s Trinity Centre in Beaumont Street from 10.30 to 4 – will find traders selling a mixture of quality vintage fashion and homewares, as well as a pop-up tea room selling delicious homemade cakes and savoury snacks. Admission is just £2.
Under the Newcastle Vintage Fashion Fair banner, Mandy Pattullo and Jayne Turner have successfully run events at the glamorous Royal Station Hotel in Newcastle city centre for the last three years. Longstanding friends, and both followers of vintage fashion and textiles, Jayne and Mandy met while teaching Textiles & Surface Design at Newcastle College, and decided to launch the Newcastle event after becoming fed up of having to travel far and wide to source vintage trims, lace and quilts to use in their own work.
In 2013, Mandy decided to focus on her own business as a textile artist, and Jayne now organises the fair independently, expanding from Newcastle to run the popular Hexham event too. On Sunday 14 September 2014, another new venue will be added when the first Vintage Fair is held at Gateshead’s Shipley Art Gallery, while the flagship Newcastle show takes place on Sunday 2 November 2014, with traders from all over the UK flocking to sell their vintage finds, sourced from Parisian flea markets and beyond
As regular visitors to Hexham ourselves (there are some fabulous independent shops there), and a fellow Tyneside-based business, we are happy to give the Hexham Vintage Fair a plug, and wish it every success on Saturday!
