This spring’s ladies’ shoe and coat trends

Spring means different things to different people. For some, it’s the opportunity to get outdoors and reclaim their garden from the wilderness of winter. For others, it’s the chance to roll up their sleeves and give their homes a deep, spring clean!
When I think of spring, my enthusiasm for all things fashion immediately makes me think of the catwalk and all of the fantastic new pieces that designers will be unveiling as part of their spring collections.
Among all that, the highlight has to be footwear and coats – largely because this is the time of year when you can abandon heavy boots, wellingtons and thick, frumpy jackets for something light, stylish and fun.
So in celebration of the arrival of warmer weather, longer days and a bit of sunshine, here’s what I’ve got my eye on for spring.
Shoes
Farewell wellingtons, galoshes and cumbersome boots! I’ve got far prettier footwear to keep me entertained now that the winter is behind me!
Take these gorgeous pink court shoes, available to buy online at Jones Bootmaker. That heel might be a little ambitious for some people, but for me it’s exactly what I’ve been craving after months of plodding around in my trusty wellies. If you’re daunted by the height, this design also comes with a smaller heel.
Pastels are big this season, so you’ll be incorporating the hottest trends of the catwalk. In fact, Glamour has identified soft pastels as the one of the biggest trends for 2014. Wear these with a figure-hugging pencil skirt in a light charcoal for the office or a light, summer dress to truly celebrate the arrival of spring.
Coats
I might be jumping for joy at the prospect that it’s nearly April – and one step closer to the summer – but that doesn’t mean that you’re completely free of chilly spells. With this in mind, it’s important that you have an eyecatching spring coat or jacket to banish the last of the bad weather – and to keep you looking fabulous.
If you ask me, you can’t go wrong with the simple lines and lightweight materials of a mac come spring. Of course, you could keep things on trend by opting for a gorgeous pastel mac, in a soft pink or lavender. However, for a statement jacket that will add a little life to your spring wardrobe, why not consider a unique polka dot design in navy blue? Something like this would make for a fantastic contrast to the pretty colour and delicate design of those court shoes!
For more inspiration, take a look at the Guardian, which has put together a fantastic collection of spring macs – including a gorgeous polka dot design that I’ve got beady my eye on. Credit cards at the ready, ladies!
The pictured court shoes (£79.20 at Jones Bootmaker) are part of a special offer that Jones Bootmaker is currently running. You can get 20% off a massive range of shoes and bags – see the full selection here.
