Jet Black Clothing’s new Latitude+Longitude label “keeps the places you love close to your heart”
We love to champion quirky or independent fashion labels at the Fashion & Style Directory – and if they happen to be based here in our native North East, well, that’s always a bonus!
So, we were thrilled when our friend Allan Smith, from Sunderland, launched his own fashion house and online store – Jet Black Clothing – earlier this year, and listed it in our Directory.
In time, the plan is that the Jet Black Clothing store will encompass a range of distinctive labels, the next of which – the eponymous Jet Black range – is launching on 1 September.

For now, though, Jet Black Clothing is quickly gaining a reputation for its first launch – the Latitude+Longitude range of “coordinated clothing” – which goes under the strapline of “keeping the places you love close to your heart.”
It’s a really clever idea – you just choose a quality men’s or women’s polo or t-shirt in one of a choice of colours, and then personalise it by adding the the geographical coordinates of a place that’s important to you.
The coordinates are embroidered on your polo or printed on your tee, with the result being a lasting reminder of your most amazing memories – or, alternatively, a really lovely idea for a personalised gift.
Naturally, your choice of place is entirely up to you, and if you don’t know the coordinates offhand – which we suspect is likely – the shopping basket handily lets you just enter the name of the place you’d like to feature. Alternatively, you can work it out yourself using an external tool, such as the one at latlong.net.
Jet Black Clothing offer a few suggestions of where you might choose – your favourite travel destination, perhaps, the special place where you met a loved one, the spot where you landed your first kiss, the summit of a mountain you’ve climbed, or even an amazing place in sporting history.
In fact, if sport’s your thing, you can select a men’s or women’s football stadium t-shirt or polo shirt, with the coordinates of some of England’s top teams available to select from a handy dropdown menu. Still, if you happen to be a fan of Accrington Stanley, there’s nothing stopping you creating your personalised tribute to the Wham Stadium in the usual way.
