Jewellery Moments sparkles with its stylish and individual SS14 collection
Whether we’re discussing the buzz around Aztec-themed jewellery, or celebrating the treasures you can find in unusual online stores, this spring’s fashion trend certainly seems to be all about accessorising!
So, as attention (inevitably) turns to shopping over the long Easter weekend, it’s an opportune time for our friends at Newcastle-based Jewellery Moments to have launched their new SS14 Collection, featuring a diverse palette of pretty pastels, floral motifs and Swarovski crystals.
The story of how Jewellery Moments came about is an increasingly familiar one – someone creative and enterprising having a passion and skill that they grow into a successful online business. Having dabbled in jewellery design as a creative outlet, Jewellery Moments’ managing director, Alice Thompson, decided to take her hobby one step further by selling her handmade jewellery in 2012. Fast forward to now, and Alice has taken Jewellery Moments from the kitchen table to an online store – as well as craft fairs and local markets across the region – building an independent British brand that is inspired by individuality, colour and style.
“What began as a series of seasonally-inspired pieces has grown into a 12-piece collection featuring precious gemstones, Swarovski crystals and shimmering pearls”, Alice explains. “Taking inspiration from simple seasonal pleasures like spring bulbs, the quintessential English garden, sparkling blue sea and brightly coloured cocktails, the Jewellery Moments SS14 Collection has been lovingly handcrafted to add a sense of fun and colour to your summer wardrobe.”
Our gallery above – featuring model Maz Ulvants, and photographs by the lovely and talented Angela Carrington from The Bigger Picture (another friend of ours) – showcases some of the most beautiful pieces in the collection. We love, among many others, the sultry gun metal and gold shades of the delightfully sparkly ‘Festival of Gold’ bracelet (£25), the delicate blue opal of the ‘Flutterby’ earrings (£12), and the bright and cheery ‘Chic Spring’ bracelet (£15), made using Calika handcrafted Kashmiri beads and pink lampwork glass rounds.
Of course, part of the appeal of Jewellery Moments is that each handcrafted piece is either unique or one of only a small number, meaning that you need to be quick to snap up your favourites! If your desired piece of jewellery is no longer available, Alice will endeavour to recreate that piece wherever possible (any bespoke order enquiries can be sent directly to alice@jewellery-moments.co.uk). However some beads and charms are limited edition, one-off pieces, meaning that they cannot be re-made.
If you fancy adding something lovely from Jewellery Moments to your jewellery box, then the SS14 range is available to buy exclusively online at jewellery-moments.co.uk, with free delivery and gift wrapping included for UK customers. Meanwhile, Alice is promising plenty more for us to look forward to in 2014, as the company expands into the wedding industry with a range of beautifully bespoke flower girl bracelets, bridal jewellery and handmade headpieces – all with the added sparkle of Swarovski crystals and pearls. It all sounds good to us – now we just need a soon-to-be-married friend to try them out on!
