Our top ten costume must-haves for your Halloween 2020 Zoom parties
There’s never been a more appropriate time to don a face mask for Halloween but, thanks to COVID-19, it may not be for the traditional ‘Trick or Treating’ or spooky house parties.
But that shouldn’t dampen our freaky fun and we certainly all need an excuse to throw on a costume, assume a new persona, and slip away into a world of ghouls, ghosts and gremlins for a few hours at least.
So, here are 10 gory, gruesome and ghastly (or, just pretty cool!) costumes and accessories perfect for Halloween 2020 Zoom parties with friends and family.
Hair
Possibly not one for arachnophobes, these ASOS glitter spider hair clips are the ideal spooky hair accessory to jazz up your Halloween outfit, whatever your celebration plans. At £8 for a pack of two (one orange and one black), they’re not the cheapest option but could be worth it to give your friends a fright!
Face
Fans of creepy, paranormal American TV show ‘The Twilight Zone’ will love to get their hands on this awesome Etsy face mask in time for Halloween. At just £8.50, it’s the perfect excuse to treat yourself to a new face mask (who thought we’d be saying that 12 months ago!). Plus, it glows in the dark – what’s not to love?
No idea what The Twilight Zone is? No problem! For a more overtly Halloween-themed face covering, check out this funky pumpkin print option from ASOS. For only £6, you not only get yourself a new face mask to wear around the shops, but you can also flip it onto your head for a snazzy bandana too.
Costumes
Six years on, and we’re still very much in agreement with Amy Rich who, in 2014, said Halloween is definitely not a time for sexy costumes. It is 100 percent all about going a bit mad and getting your gore on.
But, if you can’t quite tear yourself away from the sexy cheerleader/maid vibe yet, this Lipsy Halloween dress on sale in Next is a perfect compromise. Coming in three designs, including a skeleton, ‘Trick or Treat’ motif and blood-dripping fangs, for £26 you can bag yourself a great costume and stylish dress all in one.
If you’re looking to do the whole Halloween dress-up thing properly, what better option than the king of spooky characters, the vampire? This Smiffys costume will ensure you really look the part and includes a waistcoat, cape and cravat for £41.99.
What do you get if you cross an American President with a winter squash? A Trumpkin! Topical in more ways than one, this fun Etsy t-shirt (from £16.99) is the ideal Halloween get-up for those looking for something a little more light-hearted.
Accessories
For the bargain price of £5, you can add a devilish touch to any costume or plain old t-shirt and jeans combo. This Halloween accessory pack from Argos contains glittery Devil horns, a pointed tail, bow tie and trident.
At £40, these super cute Hunter’s skeleton wellies aren’t the cheapest option when it comes to kids’ accessories but they’re guaranteed to get plenty of wear out of them throughout autumn and winter, simply because they’re so cool!
Kids
Who knew spiders could be so cute? This £14.99 kids’ Halloween costume from Party Delights is available for children up to four and makes for a spooky yet very sweet onesie for any little Trick or Treater.
Boys and girls aged four to 12 will love terrifying friends and family in this creepy grim reaper outfit from Party Delights. At just £12.99 it’s great value too, though the scythe needs to be purchased separately.
